Women work so hard

I received a great tweet this week from Cassandra Washington @exceedlearning.

"Wow! Women wrk so hard. They nd a space 2 relax."

How true is that?

  • What woman you know doesn't do at least 3 jobs?
  • Who makes it look effortless most of the time?
  • Who doesn't get thanked enough?
  • Who slowly and quietly gets more overwhelmed each day?
  • Who will never complain about the load she bears?

We all know how important it is to take care of ourselves, but we often neglect it.

When you make a space to relax in your home, at least you have a go-to spot when you need to regroup and your girlfriends and a bottle of wine don't happen to be handy.

What are you looking at?

You've seen this before, right?

Psychiatrists give this test to determine something or other about your thought processes. You're supposed to look at the image and just blurt out the first thing that pops into your head, right?

What we look at affects our thoughts, our feelings, and our general mood.

Why is Pinterest so big right now? Because we love looking at beautiful images, funny images, inspirational images.

We look at images of far off locations and dream of being there, and it makes us feel wonderful.

Why?

Are we surrounded by the mundane?

Or are we conditioned to overlook the beauty that surrounds us every day and just see the uninteresting?

Are we overwhelmed by what we see every day?

Our homes are where we start each day (well for most of us) and where we wind down at the end of each day as well. Choose a room, or a portion of a room, and move things around, or add something beautiful so that you have a place to look each day to bring you joy.

How can you change what you look at every day so that you get a small sense of that wonderful feeling you get when you look at a photo of a beautiful far off place?
